Financial Management Advisory Committee

FMAC is a committee of Dutchess County community and organization representatives brought together with support from Cornell Cooperative Extension Dutchess County, Cornell University, and the County of Dutchess. FMAC supports Dutchess County residents developing skills to make sound decisions and practice behaviors that support financial stability through short and long-term planning and the wise use of credit, debt and other resources (energy, food), to improve individual and family financial well-being while contributing to overall community economic security.

Goals of FMAC:

  • To identify gaps in financial management education/services within the county, and develop supports to remove those gaps.
  • To help determine steps that may need to be taken within the county to break down barriers in obtaining financial management education, particularly those affecting limited resource residents.
  • To develop linkages between businesses and programs that serve youth, adults, seniors and families with financial management education/services.
  • To identify overlaps in services that may be removed (in favor of referral) to make more effective use of funding for each individual program or to be redirected to fill in where gaps in services exist.
  • To conduct CCEDC Financial Management Program directioning to meet the above goals where appropriate for the Program, CCEDC and stakeholder guidelines/needs.  This includes input to and evaluation of FMP Plan of Work.
