Food Nutrition and Wellness Past Success Stories

“I recently graduated B who has a two year old son who weighed fifty five pounds. Before starting our program he was drinking a gallon of whole milk every three days. He had very little energy, was having trouble sleeping and would not eat his vegetables. After the Nutrition Information Program, he was drinking eighteen ounces of skim milk a day and was asking for fruits and vegetables for snacks. His energy levels increased greatly and he was sleeping better. B and her son made small changes in their eating habits and saw great results. Since graduating the program, B and her son walk every day and are now eating healthier and making positive choices.”

“Client M lives with her eight year old daughter in a homeless shelter. Upon beginning the Nutrition Information Program she desired to improve her family’s nutrition and cut down on the amount of food she was eating. M considered her snacking a problem and expressed confusion as to what constituted “healthy” food. Throughout the lessons M’s positive attitude and openness to new learning made her a wonderfully receptive client. As well as living in a homeless shelter with a restricted kitchen, M was diagnosed with OCD. She was reluctant to cook as well as go outside for physical exercise. During the classes her motivation prompted her to buy a small convection oven for her room and a treadmill, as well. She used both. She began to do basic weekly meal and snack planning, read nutrition food labels on packages and refrigerate cooked food promptly. These were all new skills for M. At the close of our lessons M was in the process of looking for an apartment for her and her daughter. Her new learning should help her in her new life.”
