Financial Management Education

Programs Eliminated or Reduced

Due to 2011 Dutchess County Budget Cuts are as follows: Financial Management Education program eliminated, which included the Debtor Education contract (bankruptcy certification) with Department of Justice and two components of the EmPower program (community workshops in Making Ends Meet and Building Credit Not Debt). The EmPower component Saving Energy Saving Dollars will be provided but in a limited capacity to fulfill the contract that ends this summer. Only United Way grant dollars working for Financial Literacy for Youth (FLY) and Financial Literacy Education for Adults in Transition (FLEAT) are able to continue our work in this area through to recently funded grants, for which we are very grateful. One of our most valuable Financial Management programs, the Volunteer Family Budget Educators (FBE) is currently under a process of reorganization, in hopes that we can continue to offer this vital service to the residents of Dutchess County, but with more support from volunteers and other resources to replace the lost county support.

Mission:

The primary goal of our Financial Management Education programs is to help individuals and families increase their economic well-being through increasing savings, reducing debt, and managing budgets more effectively.

The Financial Management Education program helps individuals and families improve their economic well-being by providing Family Budget Education ProgramsFinancial Literacy for Youth (FLY), Financial Literacy Education for Adults in Transition (FLEAT), free tax services provided through the Hudson Valley Ca$h Coalition.
