CCEDC's Environment and Energy Program staff work to educate youth of all ages about the environment and provide them with opportunities to  get outside to have fun in nature, and undertake hands-on activities to improve the environment in their own backyard.

We work on the following projects throughout the year:

  • Partnering with the Dutchess County 4-H Outdoor Ed Clubs;
  • Organizing an annual event as part of the DEC's annual "Snapshot Day along the Hudson River," to take elementary youth out to conduct water quality sampling along the Hudson River;
  • Partnering with the Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies on various youth projects;
  • Offering environmental educational events at various summer recreation programs;
  • Organizing GPS scavenger hunts at various community events;
  • Partnering with the SWCD's annual Envirothon for area high-school students;
  • Working with local universities to offer internships with the Environment and Energy Program.

Please contact us for more information, or to get involved with one of our youth programs!
