Corn and soybeans are the major field crops grown on farms in Dutchess County. Most of these crops are used to feed dairy and livestock animals. Other field crops grown in the county are wheat, oats and perennial grasses used for hay production. These crops are harvested from June to October. However most of the cropland, which is planted in corn is harvested from Sept 15th to October 15th. Cornell Cooperative Extension provides numerous technical resources for field crop production.
